Chimney Crack

The Chimney for two Units of Coal Fired Power Plant are combined into one Chimney where main structure is the concrete which has dimension height 240m, bottom diameter 24m and top diameter 19.84m.

After ten years Units in operation, at the top Chimney concrete blanket found crack and some concrete materials already fall down. This even potential to recurring and also potential to damage the others equipment where surrounding of the Chimney.

The Chimney crack study already conducted by consultant. The method of study by identification, take data, make deformation simulation, comparison the simulation with another Chimney reference, give recommendation for repair and calculation the budget.



The one of recommendation from consultant is to install the natural ventilation pipe at top Chimney to release hot air trap at the top. The expected from natural ventilation pipes is reduce temperature at the top so the deformation of structure which make concrete crack can me eliminate.
