Vertical pump in power station always use on condensate pump which potential to get cavitation due to vacuum pressure at suction of pump so that NPSH actual must be calculated first.
NPSH (net positive suction head) actual must be higher than NPSH required. It is same as my previous post on http://anto-hendarto.blogspot.com/2009/01/cavitation-and-npsh.html with Johnston Pump as a refference.
