Net Zero Emission (NZE) in 2060

Koran-Jakarta.com wrote about the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) which supports collaborative actions with energy experts both from within and outside the country to achieve the national target of Net Zero Emission (NZE) in 2060. The energy transition requires significant transformation of infrastructure electricity sector, especially in developing countries which still rely heavily on fossil energy for electricity generation. To support the transformation of electricity infrastructure, the government will build around 700 Giga Watt (GW) of New Renewable Energy (NRE) plants. Apart from that, the government will carry out progressive efforts through several strategic plans including, a massive increase in Solar Power Plants in 2030 and followed by Wind Power Plants in 2037, maximization of geothermal development up to 22 GW, nuclear commercialization in 2039 and an increase of up to 31 GW in 2060, as well as development of Pump Storage in 2025 and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in 2034.
