Boiler Tube Research (re-Heater) Part 3

Were also conducted a visual inspection at the pipe 4. The result can be seen in picture 3.15 - 3.13.






From the results of a visual inspection pipe 4 a conclusion can be drawn as follows:
1 .Impose a defect in the form of deformation plastics on the outer wall of a pipe 4 .Deformation plastics that occurs allegedly caused by the presence of a clash of foreign matter from outside a pipe to tear a pipe .
2 .Did not find the walls of the occurrence of depletion of passage in a tubular .
3 .Found the presence of thin deposit in the area around rips but not excessive on an area of around torn .
4 .No findings of the existence of the ravages of corrosion on the inside of the pipe , like pitting corrosion , caustic corrosion and the type of corrosion.

Analysis of the metallurgy to test the truth of the conclusions on the results of a visual inspection , then done a series of testing to prove it.

Testing the chemical composition and violent pipe 3 and 4 is aimed at testing to prove that there is no mistake in choosing material a pipe used .The specifications of a pipe re-heater material used this is SA-213-T12 .

The specifications of a pipe re-heater material used this is sa-213-t12 .The results of testing the chemical composition and violence will be compared with ASTM A213 standard specification for seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy-steel boiler , super-heater and heat an exchanger tubes. The results of testing the chemical composition and the violence and the specifications of its standard can be seen in table 3.4 and 3.5 .



A conclusion that can be drawn from the results of pipe testing material is material pipe number 3 and 4 which used in accordance with specifications as specified.

Observation micro structure necessary to see change in phase is there or structure a microcomputer that occurs during the course of a pipe used .And also to prove that the damage to a pipe do happen by erosion not while in other .Sample taken from a pipe that experienced depletion ( figure .3.16 and 3.17 ) .The results of a photograph the structure of micro and SEM is presented in figure 3.18 - 3.21 .Violent test will be done on these sample and the result can be seen in table 3.6.
