Availability Analysis (Exergy)

Exergy or availability concept definition is maximum theoretical work obtainable as they interact to equilibrium. For easier understand about exergy concept, please read link this http://www.idpowerstation.blogspot.com/2010/09/energy-exergy-and-entropy.html

From Energy conservation statement said "Energy can't be created or destroyed, only can transformed from one form to another". But consider from picture below that process flow at the control valve (throttling process).

The pressure before control valve is 167 bar and after that is 114 bar with no change of enthalpy 3395 kJ/kg.

So that energy is conserved in the throttling process but availability (exergy) is destroyed 4 kJ/kg as calculated below. How much the exergy destroyed can be express how much the irreversibility value.

Further availability analysis allows the sites where availability destruction or losses occur to be identified and rank ordered for significance as picture describe below of the availability in simple the power plant, the value is assumed.
