wrote about the Government confirming that early retirement of coal-fired power
plants (CFPPs) and replacing them with environmentally friendly plants will not
harm the company that owns the plant because in principle the CFPP assets will
be purchased and then operated with a quicker time to decommissioning. The
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Arifin Tasrif, stated that to
determine which CFPPs would be retired, government would choose CFPPs located
in areas with excessive electricity production that were no longer efficient
and whose combustion did not meet the initial specifications. As is known, on
February 16, the Secretariat Office of the Just Energy Transitions Partnership
(JETP) work team was inaugurated which is ready to work to realize energy
transition funding cooperation. One of the tasks of the JETP Working Team in
the next six months is to complete the roadmap for early retirement of
coal-fired power plants.
