wrote about PT PLN (Persero)'s efforts to reduce carbon emissions, one of which
is through implementing Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) technology in power
plants. This is also the government's strategy in achieving the 2060 Net Zero
Emissions (NZE) target. Deputy for Maritime Sovereignty and Energy
Coordination, Jodi Mahardi said, Carbon Capture and Storage is very important
to accelerate decarbonization where Indonesia is currently in a prime position
to become the center regional CCS (CCS Hub). Meanwhile, PLN's Director of
Transmission and System Planning, Evy Haryadi, assessed that CCS development in
Indonesia is starting to become more massive and is becoming one of the
strategies promoted by the government to reduce carbon emissions. PLN as an
electricity company also has the potential to develop CCS. The total capacity
of PLN's coal and gas-based plants that produce carbon and have the potential
to be retrofitted with carbon capture technology reaches 37.6 Gigawatt (GW).
Where, with this potential, PLN can attract CCS business opportunities in the
future.

wrote about Commission VII DPR asking the Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Resources to prepare special steps, along with a budget, to deal with the
problem of air pollution in Jakarta. Member of Commission VII, Dyah Roro Esti,
said that the problem of air pollution is not only occurring in Jakarta but in
all other regions of Indonesia. Most of the air pollution comes from the
transportation sector, steam power plants (PLTU), and industry. Therefore. She
said the government must act firmly and make efforts to eliminate this source
of pollution. Previously, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry had taken
several steps, such as imposing administrative sanctions on factories that
found non-standard things in their production processes, causing pollution.
Then the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources reduced the electricity
capacity of the Suralaya CFPP, which was accused of being one of the causes of
air pollution in Jakarta and its surroundings.
