HGL (Hydraulic Grade Line)

One way to easy analysis about water flow losses by hydraulic grade line, Circulating water system for example.

Circulating water line consist Trash Rake, Traveling Screen, CW Pump at suction line and Condenser, Sea Water Booster Pump, Ball tube cleaning system at discharge line. All that part need losses flow analysis to selected the dimensions.




As picture above tell that the pressure inlet condenser should be at least 0.4 barg to keep flow the water. But now after 7 years in operation, the line pipe look dirty so the water losses going bigger and circulating water pump performance drop as well, these are way the inlet condenser pressure drop to 0.2 barg.
