Valves should be conveniently located in the line so they can be easily and safely reached so operator can open or close them properly.
Piping should be suspended from hangers placed on each side of the valve to take up the weight, and large heavy valves should be independently suspended.
When installing rising stem valves be sure to allow sufficient clearance to remove stem and bonnet if necessary. Insufficient clearance may prevent valves from being fully opened.
When installing threaded and valves always use the proper size wrenches with flat jaws. All pipe threads in valve bodies are gauged to standar tolerances.
On flanged valves torque bolts by pulling down the nuts opposite each other as described picture below.
