Hydrogen Plant
Hydrogen plant is producing hydrogen gas for generator rotor cooling because its properties is better than air cooled but right now rarely be operated due to high cost maintenance and full hazard from explosive.
As long for hydrogen plant operator remember that in that area do not activated mobile phone, radio, smoking or created other naked flame, the plant is running without danger.
Now let's to think about simplified hydrogen generation plant as picture above.
Preparation to start hydrogen plant are
1. Cooling water, nitrogen purge gas and feed-water pump must be available.
2. Initiate Start the system.
3. The system will begin to purge with Nitrogen gas and pressures until 10psi.
4. KOH pump turn on to circulate electrolyte and "re-start" delay is displayed.
5. The system will 15 seconds re-start delay. If KOH temperature above 66C, the delay will contiue until temperature less than 66C.
Run Mode
The system pressure set to 150 psi and hydrogen production demand will be 13 until 100%. At production demand less than 13%, the hydrogen generation system can match the demand by venting any excess the hydrogen pressure product.
And when the hydrogen generation system at maximum rate 100% and hydrogen system pressure is allowed to drop the set point of the back pressure regulator (before dryer).
Normal Operation.
1. KOH temperature set to 65C.
2. Feed-water pump will be run intermittent add the system.
3. Hydrogen in oxygen temperature should be less than 90C.
4. Dryer is in service every 30 min before change over to another to regeneration.
