CO2 Emission

In a broader perspective, the defining challenge of the coming century will be to balance “trilemma” of interlocking sustainability.
1. Economic aspiration of rapidly expanding populations in the developing world.
2. Environmental quality.
3. Natural resources availability.

Transportation
Transportation is another sector that has increased its relative share of prime energy. This sector has serious concern as it is significant source of CO2 emissions and other airborne pollutant, and it is almost totally based on oil as its energy source. In 2002, the transportation sector accounted for 21% of all CO2 emission worldwide. An important aspect of future changes in transportation depends on what happens to the available oil resources, production and prices. At present, 95% of all energy for transportation comes from oil.

Electrical Capacity additions to 2030.
It is clearly that of all countries, China will add the largest capacity with its projected electrical needs accounting for about 30% of the world energy forecast. China and India combined will add about 40% of all the new capacity of rest of the world. Therefore, what happens in these two countries will have important consequences on the worldwide energy and environmental situation. If coal provides as much as 70% of China’s electricity in 2030, as forecasted by IEA 2004, it will certainly increase worldwide CO2 emission and further increase global warming.

In 2000, US Department of Energy visualized the top of 12 nations that produce CO2 emission, US was number one rank (until now). What is the effect to Indonesia? If the sea level is increasing to 1M, some of Indonesia islands with the red mark will flooded includes my parent house in Surabaya East Java.

Prince Charles visited to Indonesia to see UK government helps for forest conservation in Jambi Sumatera. It is one way to control CO2 emission by every nation who produced the big CO2 emission should be involve caring for tropic forest.

Did you know?
• Everyday the earth receives enough solar to heat every home in the world for one year, free!
• It takes 20 trees to keep one baby in disposal diapers for two years.
• The billion pound of pesticides used each year in the US, but less than 1% reach a pest.
• The average American throws out his own weight in packaging every month.
• If your office recycled 1 ton of paper, you’d be saving 17 trees and keeping 60 pound of air pollution out the skies.

Since James Watt found steam engine in 19th century, since that the carbon (dioxide) gas includes the glass house gas.

The long time ago, all carbon dioxide gas which release to atmosphere cab be absorbed by plants to the earth called photosynthesis process. But now the power of plants to absorb the carbon dioxide gas is going to weak following much tropic forest gone.

UE state that needs 350 milliard euros to hold global warming until 2 degree of Celsius and decrease of glass house produced until 70% at next 2030.

CO2 Purification.
In 2008 CO2 emission in Indonesia is 77.22 Million Ton. The effort to reduce CO2 gas beside save climate also can get benefit at economical sector from CO2 Purification.
Indonesia also has industry of CO2 Purification in west Java. At the two weeks beginning, that industry can produce 3 Ton CO2 liquid per hour or 72 Ton CO2 liquid per day and directly sold in the market
This CO2 liquid is used for fish preservative, welding, soft drink, and fumigation industry.

Earth Hour.
One hour without lighting did on 28 march 2009 at 20:30 to 21:30. Earth hour was initiative to invite the persons, enterprise, government and any community to turn off the light for one hour.
This idea was coming from student of London School of Public Relation. With earth hour, electric consumption will reduce so CO2 emission will reduce too. As we know CO2 is a prime gas to create glass house to change climate.
The earth hour target are saving 300MW energy, saving Rp.200 million, reduce 284 Ton of CO2 emission.

Advised “ingat 17-22”.
Indonesia also has saving energy advised. We say “ingat 17-22!”. The Indonesia government advised to saving energy everyday at 17:00 to 22:00. That time is peak load of Java Bali grid.
